Hawaii is one of the top tourist destinations in the world. One of the reasons why this is the case is because of the weather. Unlike other parts of the world which experience extreme weather fluctuations, Hawaii weather is fairly stable throughout the year. Of course the climate will vary on different locations depending on altitude and a variety of other factors. In general however, the climate of Hawaii is considered to be tropical. This means that the climate is generally warm and moist and there is an abundance of lush vegetation.
Most rainfall occurs in the winter during the months of October to April. From May to September Hawaii weather is generally drier than normal. As for the temperatures, they range between 29 to 32°C (85-90°F) in the summer at sea level. During winter, sea level temperatures drop to around 26 to 28°C (79-83°F). Throughout the year, it is very rare for temperatures to be higher than 32°C or to be lower than 18°C. This stability and predictability of weather contributes greatly to the high tourism levels. On mountains however, you may find temperatures dropping quite low.
The winds are generally not that violent except occasionally in areas such as Maui, Kula and Lahaina. You can therefore expect a calm weather at any time of the day or night. In addition to the calm weather, the air is also fresh and refreshing.
As you prepare for your trip to Hawaii just remember that you do not need heavy clothing unless it is winter. Just carry something to protect you during the frequent light showers.
